Bio: Blair Fix is a political economist who studies how energy and inequality relate to social hierarchy. His first book is called Rethinking Economic Growth Theory from a Biophysical Perspective.
Abstract: Biophysical economists have long known that energy plays an essential role in driving economic growth. But what has been less studied is the type of social changes that come with consuming more energy. Join this talk with Blair Fix as he reviews evidence suggesting that economic development goes hand in hand with the growth of social hierarchy.
