Deputy Director, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Peter F. Green is the deputy laboratory director for Science and Technology and the chief research officer for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). He began his career at Sandia National laboratories, where he spent over a decade. Subsequently, he spent two decades on the engineering faculties of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and The University of Texas. Green’s prior leadership experience include, President of the Materials Research Society (MRS), National Academies Boards and committee membership. Moreover, he has been board member, associate editor, and editor-in-Chief of scientific journals, covering topics from physics, chemistry and materials to energy. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Ceramics Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the MRS and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Other recognition include: the 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award, Materials Science and Engineering, Cornell University; DOE Secretary achievement award, and National Science Foundation, division of materials research, Special Creativity Extension award.
