Description: The Switch Energy Case Competition allows teams of 3 to 4 undergraduate students of any major to present an innovative and prospective solution that addresses energy poverty in the developing world. The students will look into current and emerging technologies to tackle one of the developing world’s most central issues.

Prompt Details: The 2019 prompt will ask competitors to develop the long-term strategy for energy security for a select developing country, which will be named at the Kickoff Event on March 29th. Teams must address the economical, political and environmental implications of their plan.

Structure: Teams will be given one week to develop and practice their presentations after we release the 2019 case at kickoff on Friday, March 29th from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. On Saturday, April 6th, the teams will deliver a 10-minute presentation to a panel of energy experts, which will then be followed by Q&A. The event will be held from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm at the Jackson School of Geosciences (JGB). Each team will be required to submit a $40 registration deposit which will be refunded upon check-in on the day of the competition.
