Bio: Dr. Noah Kaufman is a Research Scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy SIPA. He is an economist, leads research focused on climate change policies, and teaches a course on Energy Decarbonization. Under President Obama, Noah served as the Deputy Associate Director of Energy & Climate Change at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Noah received his BS in economics from Duke University, and his PhD and MS in economics from the University of Texas at Austin, where his dissertation examined optimal policy responses to climate change.
Abstract: Join this timely discussion with Noah Kaufman as he explores the current climate policy landscape in the United States. It starts with an overview of the challenges, including emissions sources and technology and policy pathways to deep decarbonization. Then, it highlights important recent trends that influence the policy landscape. Finally, it will describe prospects for climate action in 2021 once President-Elect Joe Biden takes office and a new session of Congress gets underway.
