Abstract

As one of the world's largest automakers, Volkswagen Group is a leader in the development of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). BEVs offer a cleaner alternative to internal combustion vehicles and have lower lifetime cost of operation and carbon footprint. However, to realize the company's goal of carbon neutrality, we need to better understand the fast-evolving energy systems that charge our cars' batteries and power our operations. This talk will give a high level overview of the Volkswagen Group's view on the energy systems of the future and how they are working to provide sustainable mobility for our customers. The speakers will then highlight of some of the exploratory work we are doing at the Innovation Center California to optimize BEV charging to minimize associated grid carbon emissions.
